Iga style Platter
Stoneware, dry red brown body with feldspar inclusions, splashed with vivid green ash glaze pooling in deep grooves carved across the well, incised maker's mark, together with a signed wooden Box
H 6.7cm, W 40cm, D 32cm
PROVENANCE: Private Collection, Paris
BIOGRAPHY: After graduating from Ritsumeikan University in 1970 Fujioka went to work for a production kiln in Seto. However he was inspired by the Ko-Iga tradition and so became an apprentice to the Iga master potter Tanimoto Kosei before establishing his own kiln in 1975. Fujioka has exhibited widely in Japan and featured in numerous publications.
