Stoneware, red fired heavily textured body with rich green Oribe glaze poured in the well, pooling to a purple haze, incised maker's mark, together with a signed wooden Box

PROVENANCE: Private Collection, Paris BIOGRAPHY: Hamanaka GESSON studied with Yoshiga Taibi before establishing his own kiln in 1969 in the Hagi region. His work is a blend of Hagi with different clays and glazes, such as Shigaraki and Oribe. One of the few potters today to be regularly compared to Rosanjin, he has exhibited worldwide and been featured in many publications.

CONDITION: Perfect condition with no damage or restoration
