PROVENANCE: Private Collection, London. Previously in the collection of the Long Term Credit Bank of Japan, London This work by Henderson was in the ceramic collection of the Long Term Credit Bank of Japan, many British studio potters were held in the collection with an emphasis on the Leach Pottery including Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada. On 24th April 1993 a three tonne bomb was detonated by the IRA at Bishopsgate, in the City of London. Housed at 55 Bishopsgate the Long Term Credit Bank of Japan took the full force of the blast. Although damaged in the explosion the Henderson Vessel was superbly restored by Plowden and Smith, it was de-acquisitioned by the bank when they closed their London office.
